Armstrong Plate and Frame heat exchangers consist of a number of specially corrugated stainless steel plates assembled in a frame and bolted between two pressure plates, one of which is fixed and the other adjustable. Turbulence is created in the liquid flow channels, giving very high heat transfer coefficients and resulting in a compact, efficient heat exchanger.
Plate and Frame heat exchangers provide highly efficient thermal performance. Corrugated plates induce extremely turbulent flow, resulting in maximum rates of heat transfer and minimized fouling. Multiple corrugation patterns allow optimization to meet specific thermal and hydraulic requirements.
Plate and Frame heat exchangers are also extremely space-efficient, easy to maintain, and can be inspected and cleaned without removing the plates from the frame.
Armstrong Plate and Frame heat exchangers also provide cross-contamination prevention. Port areas are vented to prevent cross contamination of fluids. The durable one-piece gasket construction is designed to contain and direct fluids without leaking. As well, the plates are designed to withstand the full differential pressure of the system.
